Manifesto
Daphné Fleurs brings out the natural, wild side of flowers.
Fresh and dried flowers in Catalonia
Daphné is the name I've given to my studio, and behind it is Florence. For 6 years now, I've been making flowers my business. I'm self-taught, and I appreciate the freedom of expression this apprenticeship affords me, with no preconceptions and no rules. I was artistic director for Rosa Cadaqués for 5 years. This gave me great experience of the flower world, but also a deep attachment to the Mediterranean, which was the brand's identity. That's why I now work between France and Catalonia.

"The perfect bouquet is the one that has been made and thought out for the container that will receive it. I offer vases of different styles and shapes, vases that I hunt for and love for their uniqueness. "
The Greek myth of Daphne tells the story of the nymph Daphne who, to escape the insistent advances of the god Apollo, transforms herself into a laurel tree. It's a beautiful way of personifying nature, and this fantastic story echoes some very topical themes.

What do you think the perfect bouquet looks like?
I'm inspired by many things, and in unexpected fields, such as photography, painting, fashion and design. The most inspiring is nature itself. I'm particularly fond of the Art Nouveau movement, which is directly inspired by nature in its curves and colors: it's timeless and at the same time an inexhaustible source of inspiration. In concrete terms, my daily inspiration comes from my customers, the bride and groom, their story, but also the place that will be decorated with the flowers I propose.

What do you like about your job?
What moves me most is the relationship with nature and the beauty it has created. The way you have to draw inspiration from it to reinterpret it. And the uniqueness of a creation, because it's impossible to create the same bouquet exactly the same way twice. I like to offer my customers original compositions, specially designed for them.

How do you choose your flowers?
I try to make my customers aware of the seasons, because it's not normal to find all varieties of flowers all year round. Buying local as much as possible and respecting the seasons means avoiding importing flowers from the other side of the world. I work with several horticulturalists in the region to supply myself directly.
It's for this reason that I've rehabilitated a greenhouse near Perpignan in which I grow the flowers I love, rarer varieties, different colors and shapes that I hope will add an extra story to the message contained in the bouquet.
